On October 19 the German retailer Lidl, together with the Merks construction company, laid the foundation of a new logistics center worth €55m in Rīga, eng.lsm.lv reports. The opening ceremony was attended by Economics Minister Arvils Ašeradens (Unity), the German ambassador Rolf Ernst Schütte and Rīga mayor Nils Ušakovs (Harmony).
The building on Ulbrokas street in Rīga will be 47,000 square meters large, becoming one of the most modern and technologically advanced logistics centers in the Baltics. The construction will cost €42.5m while a further €15m will be invested into equipment. Construction is to be finished in 2020.
